Data Architect (Snowflake)

Base salary: $105,975–$143,380 per year

What you will do

• Design and maintain enterprise data architecture across policy, party, claims, billing, underwriting, and related business domains.
• Develop conceptual, logical, physical, canonical, and semantic data models for analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
• Build and oversee scalable ELT/ETL pipelines in Snowflake using cloud-native, automated, CDC-based, and event-driven ingestion patterns.
• Define medallion-style bronze, silver, and gold data layers and optimize Snowflake workloads for performance, cost, and reliability.
• Establish standards for data quality, metadata, lineage, naming conventions, documentation, identifiers, and data stewardship.
• Provide architectural oversight, mentor SQL developers and data engineers, and collaborate with analysts, data scientists, actuaries, and analytics teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in data architecture and data engineering, with hands-on enterprise data architecture experience.
• Advanced ELT/ETL development experience, strong SQL skills, and proficiency in Python for data engineering and automation.
• Deep experience with cloud data warehouses, ideally Snowflake, plus knowledge of large-scale data processing.
• Experience with data quality frameworks, metadata management, lineage, MDM, canonical modeling, and governance frameworks.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain authorization throughout employment; visa sponsorship, including transfers, is not available.

Nice to have

• Insurance industry experience.
• Snowflake certification.
• Familiarity with dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Understanding of APIs, streaming, orchestration, CDC, and event-driven ingestion.
