Principal, Cloud Security Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $137,400–$233,600 USD base pay annually.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and support security measures for public cloud platforms, with emphasis on Azure and AWS.
• Develop and maintain Policy as Code and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, aligned with CIS and NIST 800-53 frameworks.
• Implement and operate CSPM tools including Wiz and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Collaborate with security champions across business units and contribute to the cloud security roadmap.
• Conduct cloud configuration assessments, audits, and reviews, and investigate incidents through root cause analysis.
• Mentor junior engineers and implement corrective security actions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience engineering or developing in public cloud environments.
• At least 5 years of experience as an engineer, developer, or IT architect, preferably in cybersecurity.
• Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise.
• Proficiency in Python or familiarity with Python-based DevOps automation tooling.
• Experience with Git-based version control, CI/CD processes, cloud-native architectures, and integrated testing tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with privileged access management and identity systems such as Azure Entra, Okta, or Ping.
• Azure Security Engineer Associate, AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, or CCSP certification.
