Senior Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States; hybrid work with up to three days per week from home

Base salary: $121,000–$206,000 annually for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers; other location-based ranges may apply.

What you will do

• Lead security engineering solutions focused on infrastructure automation, cloud governance, and secure onboarding for workloads and engineering teams.
• Design and maintain Terraform-based security guardrails, reusable modules, policy-as-code solutions, and related automation.
• Develop Java- and Python-based automation tools and GitLab Infrastructure as Code gates to streamline developer workflows.
• Embed automated security controls into cloud engineering and application workflows.
• Review code and mentor engineers on Infrastructure as Code, cloud identity management, least privilege, AWS IAM, and resource policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience with 5+ years of progressive engineering or security experience.
• Extensive AWS experience, including cloud guardrails and detective controls.
• Expertise in Terraform, reusable modules, policy as code with OPA or Trivy, and multi-account deployment patterns.
• Strong knowledge of AWS IAM, including roles, permission boundaries, SCPs, and RCPs.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD, secure and testable software development, and automation using Python, Go, or Java.
• Familiarity with architecture and cybersecurity frameworks and the ability to work independently while balancing security risks and delivery timelines.

• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of risk management, audit, and compliance requirements.
