Sr. Threat Detection & Automation Engineer (Data Engineering)

Location: Milwaukee, WI Corporate; hybrid

Salary: $130,800–$196,200 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, datasets, analytics products, and data lake architectures.
• Develop enterprise ETL/ELT processes, transformation frameworks, integrations, and data governance practices.
• Optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, data quality, lineage, and integrity across structured and unstructured sources.
• Automate cybersecurity workflows through SOAR playbooks and Kubernetes- or cloud-hosted pipelines.
• Build automation tools primarily with Python and PowerShell, integrate security tools and APIs, and support dashboards, metrics, and monitoring alerts.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, engineers, and stakeholders while mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional development experience with Python and SQL.
• 5+ years of experience building batch or streaming data pipelines and applying data governance practices.
• Strong knowledge of database structures, data modeling, ETL/ELT design, data integration, replication, event streaming, and pipeline tuning.
• Experience with cloud data engineering, AWS services, modern data warehouses, and large-scale data platforms.
• Experience with security automation, REST APIs, CI/CD environments, and tools such as GitLab, Terraform, Ansible, or Kubernetes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, data engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Databricks or relevant AWS and Databricks data engineering certifications.
• Experience with SOAR, SIEM, ServiceNow, security operations, incident response, penetration testing, or network and systems administration.
• Experience with PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, API calls, regular expressions, Java, C++, or Go.
• Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR, IAM principles, and related security technologies.
