Sr Software Development Engineer (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At least 50% of each quarter must be spent in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $163,800–$245,800 USD for the primary Reston location; $148,200–$264,000 USD for additional U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Design, build, and implement solutions for a Kubernetes-based infrastructure and platform.
• Build and maintain core platform components with high availability, scalability, and security.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using Terraform and Argo CD.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and observability tools for reliable product delivery.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and collaborate with development teams across locations and time zones.
• Maintain security controls, compliance practices, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing materials.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory for personnel supporting U.S. federal government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance at the TS/SCI with CI Poly level is required; an active clearance is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and software development engineering for the senior/P4 level; the role may also consider the mid-level/P3 profile with 3+ years.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes and production experience with Amazon Web Services.
• Proficiency with Terraform, CI/CD tooling, and at least one programming language such as C#, Python, Ruby, Rust, or Go.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with security auditing and compliance frameworks.
• Experience working in air-gapped cloud regions.
• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
