Salary: $175,000–$215,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Define technical visions and multi-year modernization roadmaps for replacing legacy monolithic systems.
• Design and implement cloud-native architectures using microservices, API-first design, event-driven patterns, containers, and serverless technologies.
• Build proofs of concept, prototypes, production-quality code, and technical demonstrations to validate architectural decisions.
• Develop API, integration, security, data access, caching, and service mesh architectures for scalable distributed systems.
• Architect DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD automation, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and continuous delivery practices.
• Lead architecture governance, stakeholder alignment, technical presentations, and mentoring for architects and senior technical staff.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software architecture and development experience, including modern cloud-native application architecture.
• 7+ years designing enterprise-scale microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed applications.
• 5+ years of cloud architecture experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Docker, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and cloud-native development.
• Strong coding skills with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node, GraphQL, Java, Python, or C#.
• Expertise in API design, integration patterns, service meshes, authentication and authorization, and federal security requirements including FISMA and FedRAMP.
• Must reside in one of the listed US states, be authorized to work in the United States, and be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Amazon CodeWhisperer.
• Federal agency application experience and knowledge of DDD, bounded contexts, and event storming.
• Experience with Istio, Linkerd, Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Jaeger, Zipkin, ELK, Splunk, or Datadog.
• Knowledge of event sourcing, CQRS, saga patterns, database-per-service strategies, MLOps, and AI integration patterns.
• AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, TOGAF, or related certifications.
