Sr. Design Engineer 1 (Outdoor Power Equipment)

Location: Anderson, SC, United States; onsite

What you will do

• Own mechanical design execution for outdoor power equipment components, subassemblies, and systems from concept through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and engineering specifications.
• Analyze design trade-offs involving performance, cost, weight, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Define and execute design verification activities, including stress, durability, environmental, tolerance, and abuse testing.
• Support pilot builds, PPAP, production ramp-up, engineering changes, corrective actions, and manufacturing issue resolution.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Compliance, Reliability, and global suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of design experience with consumer, industrial, or electromechanical products.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD platforms such as Creo, SolidWorks, or NX, along with detailed drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, and supplier-built components.
• Experience leading data-driven design verification and validation activities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical communication, and engineering judgment skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with outdoor power equipment, power tools, small engines, or high-load electromechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience supporting pilot builds and production ramp-ups.
• Familiarity with global supplier collaboration and Asia-based manufacturing.
• Experience supporting UL, CSA, or ANSI compliance activities.
