TL;DR

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; site-based, full-time onsite work required. The co-op runs from January 18, 2027 through June 25, 2027, and applicants must be available for the entire duration. Candidates must already hold U.S. work authorization, qualify as U.S. persons under export control requirements, and maintain work authorization without future sponsorship.

Salary: $20.00–$60.00 per hour.

What you will do

  • Develop manufacturing processes for mRNA therapeutics and vaccines, including mRNA synthesis, lipid nanoparticle assembly, and drug product formulation.
  • Generate experimental results, analyze data, and document conclusions and recommended next steps in technical reports.
  • Perform process scale-up, support technology transfer, and provide manufacturing support at internal and contract manufacturing sites.
  • Plan, design, execute, and analyze experiments and formal risk assessments to establish critical process parameters and process control strategies.
  • Optimize formulation and processing conditions affecting mRNA drug product and intermediate stability.
  • Create scaled-down models and high-throughput experimental setups, collaborate with analytical teams to characterize mRNA and lipid nanoparticles, and present findings in cross-functional meetings.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, bioengineering, biomolecular engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, biophysics, biostatistics, biotechnology, mathematics, molecular biology, pharmaceutical science, statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong scientific and engineering fundamentals for evaluating experimental data.
  • Laboratory skills applicable to bioprocess development and analytical methods.
  • Availability for the full co-op period from January 18, 2027 through June 25, 2027.
  • Existing U.S. work authorization and eligibility as a U.S. person for export-controlled work; immigration sponsorship is not available.
