mRNA Process Development Senior Scientist (mRNA)

Location: Boston, MA, USA; candidates must be within a commutable distance. Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

Salary: $40–$46 per hour, based on education and related experience.

What you will do

• Design, execute, and analyze experiments for mRNA process characterization and optimization.
• Develop scalable plasmid DNA fermentation processes and operate and troubleshoot bioreactors.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot in vitro transcription processes.
• Develop and scale downstream purification and nucleic acid analytics using Cytiva AKTA Avant and Agilent 1260 HPLC/UHPLC systems.
• Support GMP process development, validation, manufacturing readiness, and technology transfer.
• Prepare technical documentation, interpret data, present findings, and maintain high laboratory safety standards.

Requirements

• B.S. with 4+ years, M.S. with 2+ years, or Ph.D. with at least 6 months of relevant laboratory experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.
• Experience with process development and manufacturing of protein, AAV, or mRNA therapeutics.
• Experience with process characterization, validation studies, cGMP regulations, and technology transfer.
• Experience with IVT processes, bioreactors or fermenters, TFF, and chromatography, including AKTA Avant and Agilent 1260 systems.
• Strong communication, technical writing, presentation, planning, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship is required.

• Direct mRNA process development experience.
