Sr. Design Engineer – New Product Development Engineering (Outdoor Power Equipment)

What you will do

• Own mechanical design execution for components, sub-assemblies, and systems from concept and detailed CAD through validation and production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and engineering specifications.
• Perform design trade-off analyses covering performance, cost, weight, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Design for high-volume manufacturing, assembly efficiency, tooling capability, supplier processes, quality, and cost reduction.
• Define DFMEA inputs and execute verification plans involving tolerance validation, stress, durability, environmental, and abuse testing.
• Support pilot builds, PPAP, production ramp-up, engineering changes, certifications, audits, and failure investigations with cross-functional teams and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of design experience in consumer, industrial, or electromechanical products.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent, plus detailed drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, and supplier-built components.
• Experience leading design verification and validation using data-driven methods.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with outdoor power equipment, power tools, small engines, or high-load electromechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience with pilot builds and production ramp-ups.
• Experience collaborating with global suppliers and Asia-based manufacturing operations.
• Experience supporting UL, CSA, and ANSI compliance activities.
