TL;DR
Electrical Firmware Design Engineer IV (FPGA/Embedded Electronics): Designing and validating high-reliability embedded control electronics for military avionics, including FPGA and microprocessor firmware, PCBs, interfaces, and motor and solenoid control, with an accent on VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, C/C++, and board-level verification. Focus on decomposing system requirements, implementing MIL-STD-1553B and peripheral interfaces, performing timing analysis and gate-level simulation, and delivering flight-electronics documentation through aerospace design reviews.

Location: 100% onsite in Inglewood, California, United States. Some local or domestic supplier and customer travel is required; international travel may occasionally be needed.

Salary: $155,000–$205,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and education.

Company

hirify.global develops and manufactures military alternate mission equipment and high-reliability systems for aerospace and defense programs.

What you will do

  • Decompose system requirements into electronic subsystem requirements and define embedded-electronics architectures, block diagrams, and I/O.
  • Design high-reliability multilayer PCB circuits, schematics, component selections, bills of materials, and manufacturing packages.
  • Develop and validate FPGA- and microprocessor-based embedded control modules for switches, sensors, solenoids, and AC/DC motors.
  • Simulate and analyze circuits using LTSpice, Qspice, and FPGA implementation tools; perform synthesis, timing analysis, and gate-level simulation.
  • Define and execute board- and CCA-level verification and validation testing, prototype debugging, and hardware integration.
  • Prepare design, test, assembly, and review documentation for requirements, PDR, CDR, manufacturing readiness, and TRR activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, C, and C++; experience with Python or test-framework scripting is advantageous.
  • Experience with FPGA simulation, synthesis, device implementation tools, static timing analysis, synthesis constraints, and back-annotated simulation.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553B BCRT interfaces and embedded control logic for solenoids, motor drivers, power switching, analog inputs, and ADC scanning.
  • Experience developing SPI, I2C, UART, DMA, CAN, and processor local bus interfaces, plus debugging prototypes with test equipment.
  • Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements and must be fluent in written and spoken English. Proof of education is required.

Nice to have

  • Military or commercial aviation, DoD acquisition, aerospace systems, or high-reliability electronics experience.
  • Knowledge of airborne weapon systems or weapon carriage equipment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, MIL-STD-810, and other DoD or aerospace quality standards.
  • Experience with Microsemi, Altera, STMicroelectronics, Intel, ARM Cortex-M7/M4, or SAP.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work across office, manufacturing, assembly, and laboratory test environments.
  • Support programs serving the Department of Defense and global allies.
  • Employment is subject to export-control compliance and E-Verify eligibility confirmation.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available during the application process.
