Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days a week

Salary: $120,600–$180,900 per year

What you will do

• Design and develop package systems for industrial gas turbine products.
• Create and maintain detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of material.
• Participate in new product introduction from concept through production, including prototyping, testing, and validation.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of gas turbine packages.
• Identify and implement design improvements and cost reductions that enhance performance, reliability, and serviceability.
• Prepare engineering documentation, design specifications, drawings, and test reports while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 7–12 years of experience in mechanical design, engineering, and manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling, such as Creo.
• Proficiency with ANSYS SpaceClaim and analysis methodologies for simulation-driven design decisions.
• Proficiency in FEA and CFD analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and technical decision-making skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
