TL;DR
Principal Mechanical Design Engineer (Gas Turbines): Developing and implementing package systems for industrial gas turbine products from concept through production with an accent on 3D modeling, engineering documentation, and simulation-driven design. Focus on NPI prototyping and validation, FEA and CFD analysis, technical support during installation and commissioning, and improving product performance, reliability, and serviceability.

Location: San Diego, California; onsite five days a week

Salary: $120,600–$180,900 per year

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of material for package systems.
  • Support new product introduction from concept through production, including prototyping, testing, and validation.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of gas turbine packages.
  • Identify and implement design improvements and cost reductions to improve performance, reliability, and serviceability.
  • Prepare design specifications, drawings, test reports, and other engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7–12 years of experience in mechanical design, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, such as Creo.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS SpaceClaim and analysis methodologies for simulation-driven design.
  • Proficiency in finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
