TL;DR
Lead Thermal Fluids Engineer – Gas Turbine Cooling, Secondary Air Systems & Clearance Design (Gas Turbines/Thermal-Fluid Analysis): Leading the design, simulation, and optimization of gas turbine cooling systems, secondary air systems, sealing technologies, and clearance strategies with an accent on aerothermal analysis, whole-engine thermal behavior, and fleet performance. Focus on developing validated thermal-fluid models, correlating simulations with testing and fleet data, and solving complex reliability, efficiency, and component-life challenges.

Location: United States; listed locations include Charlotte, North Carolina and Orlando, Florida

Company

hirify.global develops energy technologies and gas turbine solutions supporting reliable, sustainable power generation, service, modernization, and decarbonization.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership for gas turbine cooling systems, secondary air systems, sealing technologies, and clearance design.
  • Develop and validate thermal-fluid, flow-network, and whole-engine models.
  • Lead CFD, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, aerothermal, and transient thermal analyses.
  • Correlate analytical models with prototype testing, operational measurements, and fleet data.
  • Influence new gas turbine product development and lead investigations into cooling, thermal performance, clearances, and component life.
  • Mentor engineers and collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, service engineering, project management, and component design teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in thermal-fluid engineering, gas turbine design, turbomachinery development, or a related field.
  • Expertise in gas turbine cooling systems, secondary air systems, sealing technologies, and clearance management.
  • Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and turbomachinery fundamentals.
  • Experience leading complex engineering programs and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored authorization; candidates must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements as a citizen or national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice to have

  • Experience with large industrial gas turbines or aerospace turbine engines.
  • Experience with Whole Engine Modeling, turbine thermal growth, clearance analysis, aerothermal optimization, or hot gas path cooling.
  • Experience with fleet performance analysis, root-cause investigations, new product introduction, or technology development.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work with a global engineering organization focused on reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy.
  • Career growth and development opportunities.
  • Company-paid health and wellness benefits, paid time off, and paid holidays.
  • 401(k) savings plan with company match, family-building benefits, and parental leave.
