Senior Mechanical Engineer, Test Development Engineering

Location: South Jordan, Utah, USA; onsite in the office five days per week, Monday through Friday, with 3–4 trips to Asia per year.

What you will do

• Design and document assembly jigs, test fixtures, precision metrology systems, and custom calibration instruments.
• Integrate sensors, load cells, displacement transducers, pressure gauges, and other instrumentation into test and calibration systems.
• Develop and validate test procedures, calibration methods, verification plans, and measurement system analyses.
• Use Creo and SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and drawings with GD&T for precision alignment and repeatability.
• Troubleshoot alignment errors, sensor drift, calibration failures, and test station downtime.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, calibration, software, electronics, and contract manufacturing teams while maintaining technical documentation and traceability records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design, test and calibration equipment development, or precision metrology systems.
• Proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, FEA, tolerance analysis, mechanical systems, pneumatic and electromechanical integration, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong knowledge of measurement science, statistical methods, calibration, test system design, data acquisition, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with MSA, Gage R&R, NIST traceability, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, or equivalent quality and calibration practices.
• Ability to work onsite five days per week in South Jordan, Utah, and travel to Asia 3–4 times per year.

Nice to have

• Experience in consumer electronics, precision mechanisms, or high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with SPC, capability studies, reliability analysis, PLM systems, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Metrology.
