TL;DR
Material Logistics Analyst (Supply Chain/Transportation): Developing and executing freight, routing, supplier, and carrier strategies across ocean, rail, and truck transportation with an accent on cost, quality, speed, and production continuity. Focus on analyzing logistics performance, implementing cost-saving projects, resolving provider and billing issues, and preventing production line-down situations through expedited shipping and data-driven decisions.

Location: On-site in Dearborn, Michigan, United States. Travel to plants, external warehouses, and provider sites may be required. Weekend work may occasionally be required.

Salary: $72,480–$121,440, $84,480–$141,360, or $96,720–$162,120 annually, depending on salary grade.

What you will do

  • Develop material freight, logistics, commodity, equipment, routing, and total landed cost strategies across ocean, rail, and truck modes.
  • Monitor carrier, supplier, warehouse, and logistics provider performance against cost, quality, speed, delivery, cube, and planned-to-actual metrics.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives, including routing improvements, density optimization, sourcing changes, and premium freight reduction.
  • Coordinate with plants, suppliers, carriers, Purchasing, Finance, and external service providers to resolve logistics issues and respond to network or operating plan changes.
  • Manage provider purchase order requisitions, billing discrepancies, accessorial charges, shipping instructions, and supplier performance reporting.
  • Support product launches and critical-part expedites by evaluating transportation options and preventing production line-down situations.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in Supply Chain or Operations Management.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong understanding of MP&L, CMMS, and data warehouse systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Alteryx, Python, R, or other big data mining tools.
  • Supply chain or plant experience.
  • Experience influencing change and working with cross-functional groups.
