Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work with an expectation of being in the office three days per week

Base salary: CAD $170,000–$204,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the Life & Health Contracts function across the North America portfolio, covering traditional reinsurance agreements.
• Draft, review, interpret, and restructure contracts to ensure terms reflect underwriting intent and disciplined risk-taking.
• Advise underwriting, pricing, claims, legal, portfolio management, risk, and Client Markets stakeholders on wording implications and structural trade-offs.
• Own regional deviation governance, contract analysis, documentation rigor, and decision traceability.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Contracts Specialists across the United States and Canada.
• Drive adoption of contracting workflow tools and responsible GenAI-enabled drafting and review practices.

Requirements

• 12–15+ years of experience in Life & Health reinsurance or insurance contracting.
• Law degree required.
• Strong legal foundation or substantial experience drafting and negotiating reinsurance agreements.
• Demonstrated commercial judgment and ability to articulate risk trade-offs in a regulated, high-complexity environment.
• Experience leading multi-location teams and driving workflow modernization or technology-enabled change.
• High-accountability leadership style with the ability to set standards, make difficult decisions, and challenge stakeholders constructively.
