TL;DR
Electrical/Electronic Hardware Design Engineer III (Aerospace): Designing, analyzing, building, and testing high-reliability embedded electronics for military avionics and electromechanical systems with an accent on multilayer PCB design, embedded controllers, FPGA and microcontroller integration, and MIL-STD-1553 interfaces. Focus on decomposing system requirements, verifying board-level hardware, troubleshooting designs, and optimizing circuits for manufacturing.

Location: 100% onsite in Inglewood, California, United States

Salary: $135,000–$185,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

  • Decompose system requirements into electronic subsystem requirements through design trades and analysis.
  • Define architectures, block diagrams, and I/O for embedded electronics used in Line Replacement Units and other modules.
  • Design high-reliability circuits and multilayer PCBs, including schematics, component selection, BOMs, layout, and fabrication packages.
  • Simulate, troubleshoot, assemble, and verify board-level hardware using circuit simulation and V&V methods.
  • Prepare design specifications, test plans, procedures, reports, and technical review materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver manufacturable designs and support integration.

Requirements

  • BSEE and at least 8 years of relevant electrical hardware design, analysis, and development experience.
  • End-to-end experience designing, building, and testing high-reliability flight electronics for complex electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to design and develop multilayer PCBs for electronic devices and systems.
  • Experience with FPGAs, microcontrollers, military systems, and Embedded C development.
  • Strong troubleshooting, technical documentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; U.S. person status is required, and applicants must be U.S. citizens without secondary citizenship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553 bus architecture and MIL-STD-1760.
  • Experience with Altium, Xpedition, LTSpice, QSpice, or NI Multisim.
  • Background in military or commercial aviation, airborne weapon systems, or weapon carriage equipment.
