Plant Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Location: On-site in Preston, Minnesota, United States; occasional and overnight travel may be required.

What you will do

• Work with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to troubleshoot operations and maximize plant efficiency and run time.
• Support process optimization, production-level maintenance, and location-specific plant research.
• Assist with predictive and preventative maintenance programs, including equipment selection, tooling, and inspection frequencies.
• Compile and analyze operational data and help strengthen plant operating procedures.
• Promote safe behavior, environmental compliance, confidentiality, and effective teamwork.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Junior- or senior-level student enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.
• Availability to work varied shifts for a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Organizational, time management, communication, adaptability, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new programs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity or experience with DCS control and DCS historian systems.
