MLT/MT - Medical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Newport News, Virginia; in-person work with travel between sites required

Compensation: $27.75–$35.49 per hour

What you will do

• Handle and process specimens, perform laboratory analyses, report patient results, and process reference-laboratory send-outs.
• Perform chemistry, hematology, immunology, urinalysis, peripheral blood smear, and complete WBC differential testing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, perform scheduled maintenance, prepare reagents and solutions, and manage supplies.
• Execute quality-control activities, calibrations, proficiency testing, documentation, and corrective actions when results fall outside acceptable performance levels.
• Process and chart patient results, verify critical results, and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Support bone marrow procedures, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and blood product transfusion procedures.

Requirements

• Associate degree in medical technology or laboratory science required for MLT candidates.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or laboratory science required for MT/MLS candidates.
• At least 3 years of related experience preferred.
• Must be willing to travel between sites.
• Current state license where required.
• AMT, ASCP, or equivalent certification preferred.
