Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Location: Newport News, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; Jacksonville, FL; or Hampstead, NC, US

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and support municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Develop pump stations, pipelines, storage systems, and utility improvements.
• Prepare engineering reports, technical specifications, construction drawings, cost estimates, and design calculations.
• Support projects through design, bidding, permitting, and construction phases.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, quality control, and proposal activities.

Requirements

• 2–10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering design.
• Bachelor’s degree in project engineering.
• Strong knowledge of municipal water and wastewater systems.
• Experience preparing engineering plans, specifications, reports, and calculations.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience working with municipal clients.
• Experience with pump stations and linear infrastructure.
• Project management experience covering scope, schedule, and budget.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• PE license or EIT certification.
