L&H Underwriting Portfolio Lead (80-100%)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work

Base salary: GBP 84,000–126,000 per year for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Shape and deliver the UK & Ireland Life & Health underwriting philosophy, guidance and risk appetite.
• Provide senior technical underwriting advice, constructive challenge and practical guidance to colleagues and clients.
• Build long-term client relationships and help insurers apply effective underwriting solutions.
• Use portfolio insight, claims experience and broader market knowledge to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with portfolio, proposition, medical, pricing, claims, client markets and global teams.
• Represent hirify.global at client and industry events and guide clients in adopting innovative solutions, including AI.

Requirements

• Proven Life & Health underwriting expertise with a strong technical foundation.
• Understanding of the factors driving portfolio performance and profitability.
• Experience building trusted client relationships and translating technical expertise into practical solutions.
• Experience setting or contributing to underwriting risk appetite and strategy.
• Strong communication skills for specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• Experience collaborating across pricing, medical, claims and client-facing functions.

• Curiosity about emerging underwriting approaches, data analytics, AI and digital tools.
• Experience representing an organisation at industry events or client forums.
