Principal/MD, Value Creation – Technology, Global Portfolio Solutions

Location: Washington, DC; open to qualified candidates throughout the United States. The role requires moderate travel and working hours similar to portfolio management teams, with occasional peaks related to live deal work.

Base salary: $300,000–$400,000 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package and potential eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive program.

What you will do

• Develop and execute technology value creation roadmaps with portfolio management teams, deal teams, and functional partners.
• Advise portfolio companies on large-scale transformations, including carve-outs, acquisitions, modernization, platform consolidation, and cloud migration.
• Assess technology spend, operating models, organizational structures, vendor strategies, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Support investment diligence and value creation planning by evaluating architecture, product roadmaps, platform scalability, engineering capabilities, and technical debt.
• Build technology partner, consultant, contractor, and executive networks and evaluate emerging AI/ML, automation, and data infrastructure solutions.
• Lead technology leadership summits, webinars, forums, case studies, playbooks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the portfolio.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of professional experience as a highly accomplished technology executive or senior practitioner, such as a CTO, CIO, or equivalent, or as a senior leader in a top-tier technology consulting or advisory firm.
• Deep expertise in product engineering, software architecture, infrastructure modernization, digital transformation, and AI/ML adoption.
• Experience leading complex technology transformation programs, technology operating model design, vendor management, and onshore/offshore hybrid structures.
• Demonstrated ability to translate technology investments into revenue growth, cost reduction, margin expansion, or enterprise value creation.
• Familiarity with private equity deal cycles, value creation planning, portfolio company management expectations, and alternative asset managers.
• Experience responding to cyber breaches or incidents and influencing CTO, CIO, CPO, CFO, COO, CEO, and investment professionals.
