Manager, Sustainability (ESG)

Location: Washington, DC; in-office 4 days per week

Base salary: $105,000–$115,000 per year, plus potential annual discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead engagements with portfolio company management teams to identify, prioritize, and execute sustainability-driven value creation opportunities.
• Translate ESG topics such as energy, supply chain, workforce, and product positioning into commercial strategies with measurable EBITDA impact.
• Design and implement initiatives targeting cost savings, operational efficiency, risk reduction, and revenue growth.
• Build scalable value creation programs, roadmaps, KPIs, and implementation plans across asset classes.
• Advise C-suite executives and senior operators while coordinating cross-functional execution within portfolio companies.
• Support selective ESG diligence for new investments and translate findings into actionable 100-day plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a concentration in finance, accounting, economics, business, or ESG is strongly preferred.
• 5–8+ years of experience in management consulting, private equity value creation, strategy, operations, or a similar role.
• Experience independently leading workstreams or projects and engaging senior client stakeholders.
• Track record of delivering measurable cost savings, revenue growth, or operational improvements.
• Strong commercial, analytical, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with sustainability and ESG topics as business levers, plus the ability to work independently and influence without authority.

Nice to have

• Experience working with or advising portfolio companies or operating businesses.
• Demonstrated innovation and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI applications for sustainability.
