Supervisor, Substation Electrical Engineering Services

Location: Hybrid in West Sacramento, Fresno, or Oakland, California; remote office work combined with attendance at the assigned location two days per week.

Salary: $137,000–$232,000 base in California or $144,000–$244,000 base in the Bay Area, depending on locality and qualifications.

What you will do

• Lead and supervise a team of 15–18 project engineers, design engineers, design drafters, and engineering assistants.
• Oversee transmission and distribution substation engineering and design work delivered across all regions.
• Coordinate engineering plans, project scope, schedules, costs, estimates, material lists, equipment specifications, and construction support.
• Track and communicate safety, design quality, financial performance, and milestone achievement metrics.
• Work with Project Management and Substation Construction to maintain production schedules and remove project-support obstacles.
• Promote accountability, teamwork, innovation, and adoption of new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least five years of engineering experience, including experience in electric substation and transmission line engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of transmission or substation engineering, design, and construction.
• Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• Ability to work in the hybrid arrangement in West Sacramento, Fresno, or Oakland, California, with two days per week at the assigned location.

Nice to have

• Two years of leadership experience in supervision or a lead role.
• Registered Electrical P.E.
• Familiarity with PG&E standards and design processes.
• Familiarity with ESC, Local 20 labor contract.
• Experience with Clarity, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
