Staff DevOps Engineer

Location: Remote in Canada

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for platform provisioning, licensing, and purchasing.
• Build scalable backend services using Java and modern engineering practices.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Improve automation, cloud infrastructure, system performance, reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Troubleshoot production issues, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor and coach engineers while remaining deeply involved in hands-on development.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience developing production-grade applications.
• Strong backend development experience with Java; experience with Golang and Python.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, and Maven.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, event-driven architectures, and microservices.
• Strong understanding of software design, testing, debugging, and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, mentoring ability, and willingness to remain hands-on.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with licensing, provisioning, subscription management, or purchasing platforms.
• Agile development experience and familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD best practices.
