Compliance Specialist II-III

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Office-based role with occasional travel to client job sites.

Salary: $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Manage prevailing wage compliance for public works projects, including certified payroll, apprenticeship programs, and skilled and trained workforce requirements.
• Review wage determinations, classifications, fringe benefits, training requirements, holidays, shift differentials, and applicable labor agreements.
• Coordinate compliance activities between payroll, public works administration, legal, operations, human resources, subcontractors, and labor compliance partners.
• Review contracts, time logs, labor entries, payroll calculations, classifications, certifications, and apprentice ratios to identify discrepancies and misclassifications.
• Coordinate responses to California DIR, U.S. DOL, owner, general contractor, and third-party labor compliance audits.
• Supervise the Compliance team and support FileMaker Pro and ERP system enhancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of prevailing wage compliance experience and knowledge of the California Labor Code.
• Knowledge of California and federal public works labor regulations, DIR requirements, wage determinations, and certified payroll processes.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and strong verbal, written, mathematical, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate compliance issues and work toward resolutions with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in an office environment in Torrance, California, with occasional travel to client job sites.

Nice to have

• Union experience.
• Experience responding to DIR or DOL prevailing wage audits and CWPAs.
• Experience in the same or a similar industry.
• Experience with the California DIR Portal, LCP Tracker, Excel, and FileMaker Pro.
