TL;DR
Labor Compliance Specialist (Public Works/Renewable Energy): Supporting labor compliance for utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation projects with an accent on prevailing wage, certified payroll, audits, and public contract requirements. Focus on reviewing payroll and apprenticeship documentation, assessing compliance risks, coordinating with project teams and contractors, and responding to government and third-party reviews.

Location: Hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, California; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.

Compensation: $32.73–$43.22 per hour

hirify.global provides infrastructure services for the power industry, including the design, construction, and maintenance of utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation projects nationwide.

What you will do

  • Monitor certified payroll for internal projects and external subcontractors.
  • Review public and special-requirement private contracts for prevailing wage, skilled labor, local hire, diversity, and related labor obligations.
  • Develop compliance monitoring plans, conduct project audits, and assess risks across compliance programs.
  • Review payroll records, benefit statements, training contributions, apprenticeship paperwork, and other supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, government agencies, and internal departments during audits, inquiries, and information requests.
  • Deliver labor compliance training and manage documentation through LCP Tracker and other compliance software.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience with Public Works Labor Compliance Programs and/or Project Labor Agreements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • Experience with prevailing wage enforcement, analysis, and auditing.
  • Knowledge of construction-industry employment practices and state labor regulations.
  • Ability to implement procedures, coordinate across departments, work independently, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Proficient written and verbal English communication skills, including business writing.
