Engineering Intern (AI)

Location: Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, United States office; hybrid model with up to 50% work from home.

What you will do

• Complete well-defined software engineering assignments covering design, development, testing, automation, deployment, support, and improvement.
• Apply software engineering fundamentals while learning cloud-native, DevSecOps, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and delivery practices.
• Use AI-enabled engineering tools, Agentic AI patterns, and AI agents under supervision while validating results and protecting sensitive information.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, code reviews, documentation, operational support, root-cause learning, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with engineers, quality engineers, product managers, architects, platform engineers, UX designers, and business partners.
• Build technical and professional capabilities in preparation for potential progression into an Associate Engineer role.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Coursework in programming, software engineering fundamentals, algorithms, or data structures, plus software development experience through coursework, projects, hackathons, research, or open-source work.
• Experience with at least one modern programming language or development framework, Git-based source control, and Agile software development.
• Exposure to cloud-native application development and one or more cloud platforms, with familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD, DevSecOps, or observability.
• Ability to develop clean, maintainable, secure, and well-tested software; analyze routine technical problems; communicate effectively; and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience responsibly using AI-enabled engineering tools, Agentic AI patterns, and AI agents with critical evaluation and human accountability.
• Understanding of secure software development, quality engineering, and protection of confidential information and client data.
