TL;DR
Engineering Intern (AI) (C++/Rust, Search Infrastructure): Building massive-scale search, crawling, embedding, and vector database systems for an applied AI search engine with an accent on high-performance systems and information retrieval. Focus on recreating Google-level keyword search, developing web crawlers for billions of pages, and building vector databases capable of sub-100ms retrieval at billion-vector scale.

Location: On-site in San Francisco, California

hirify.global is an applied AI lab building a large-scale search engine with web crawling, embedding models, and high-performance vector database infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Contribute to engineering projects based on skills and interests.
  • Build Google-level keyword search across more than 10 billion pages.
  • Develop a high-performance crawling system optimized for different websites.
  • Design and implement a custom vector database operating over more than one billion vectors with sub-100ms retrieval.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Must be willing to take a semester off to work full time in San Francisco.
  • Experience with a high-performance programming language such as C++ or Rust.
  • Interest in technically difficult or unusual software projects.
  • Strong interest in finding and retrieving high-quality information.
