Senior International Property Underwriter (Commercial Property Insurance)

Location: San Francisco or Los Angeles, California, United States. Hybrid work model with an expectation of working from the office three days per week; regional travel for client and broker meetings is required.

Estimated base salary: $164,000–$246,000 annually.

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of medium-to-large corporate accounts, including fronted global property programs.
• Analyze and underwrite natural catastrophe and man-made property exposures, coverages, loss prevention, and pricing metrics.
• Assess technical insurability for new business and renewals, prepare quotations, and structure programs and proposals.
• Develop terms and conditions using underwriting tools and maintain accurate risk and account information in internal systems.
• Build a book of business, originate prospects, and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and hirify.global entities.
• Coach less experienced underwriters, lead internal or external projects, and negotiate capacity deployment and key terms.

Requirements

• 4–10 years of underwriting experience with medium-to-large corporate accounts.
• In-depth knowledge of commercial property underwriting and the insurance market in the US West Region.
• Knowledge of complex shared and layered programs and 100% single-carrier business.
• Strong understanding of natural catastrophe and man-made risk management and loss prevention.
• Proficiency with underwriting tools, applications, and guidelines, plus the ability to manage multiple deals in parallel.
• Strong broker and client network in the local region, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
