TL;DR
Mechanical Design Engineer (Laboratory Automation): Designing and developing automation machinery for laboratory and medical applications with an accent on detailed CAD design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing transfer. What you will do

  • Lead the design and development of machinery solutions from concept design through detailed CAD models, manufacturing drawings, prototypes, testing, validation, and production transfer.
  • Develop mechanical products with electromechanical components including motors, gears, pulleys, and sensors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers on new product development and existing product support.
  • Create technical documentation for design, manufacturing, compliance, and production release.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly with hands-on technical guidance and resolve design-related issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to product performance, cost, quality, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Medical, or Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of product design engineering experience, ideally developing automation products for machinery, small appliances, or materials handling.
  • Strong experience designing detailed parts and components, including tolerance stack-ups and custom parts.
  • Proficiency in creating 2D manufacturing drawings using PTC Creo; knowledge of GD&T is desirable.
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing techniques, new product development, and production release.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, prioritization, quality, safety, compliance, and mentoring skills.
