Senior Mechanical Engineer (Building Services)

What you will do

• Lead the design, coordination, and management of mechanical and fire protection systems for building projects.
• Develop project briefs, detailed designs, drawings, reports, tender packages, and technical reviews.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, services, client, and external project teams across the RIBA Plan of Work.
• Deliver net-zero carbon and energy-conscious engineering solutions while addressing constructability, design coordination, and CDM constraints.
• Lead mechanical design delivery teams and Revit coordinators, mentor junior engineers, and support project action plans and design programmes.
• Manage project quality, progress, client satisfaction, profitability, workload forecasting, and opportunities for new work.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a relevant design and engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer status, such as CEng or equivalent, or progress toward CEng through CIBSE, SoPHE, or IMechE.
• Technical competence in Building Regulations, CDM, British Standards, BSRIA and CIBSE guidance, and current codes of practice.
• Experience with Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office.
• Construction process awareness, strong communication skills, and experience leading engineering projects and teams.
• Ability to represent the practice at project level and collaborate with clients, consultants, and construction professionals.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Healthcare Technical Memorandums, FPA/LPC Sprinkler Rules, or the Heat Networks Technical Assurance Scheme.
• Project management experience.
