TL;DR
Senior Employee Relations Specialist (Employee Relations): Supporting HR partners, managers, and employees across the Americas through employee relations guidance, investigations, performance management, and employment-risk mitigation with an accent on conflict resolution, documentation, and U.S. labor law. Focus on conducting sensitive investigations, coordinating progressive discipline and involuntary terminations, and improving case-management processes.

Location: Westlake, Ohio, USA; office environment

What you will do

  • Provide proactive employee relations guidance and coaching to HR Business Partners, managers, and employees across the Americas.
  • Support performance assessments, progressive discipline, performance improvement plans, reductions in force, and exit processes.
  • Conduct and document employee complaint and disciplinary investigations, recommend resolutions, and escalate legally sensitive matters.
  • Prepare involuntary terminations and administer severance packages.
  • Support compliance and employee relations training in partnership with Learning and Development.
  • Analyze case trends and improve employee relations processes and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, psychology, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional work experience, including 3 years leading employee relations cases.
  • Knowledge of U.S. labor and employment laws; exposure to Canada and Latin America is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong process and documentation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with web-based platforms, case management tools, confidential information, and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • Experience with leave laws, FMLA, and ADA compliance.
  • Experience handling grievance investigations and resolutions.
  • Knowledge of employment practices in Canada and Latin America.
