Manager Product Compliance (Marine)

Location: Hybrid role based in Mettawa, Illinois, with regular onsite presence at a Navico Group engineering site. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available, and relocation is not offered.

Salary: $103,200–$144,000 annually, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a globally distributed team of product compliance engineers and specialists across AMER and EMEA.
• Define and improve compliance operating models, processes, documentation standards, tools, and product-development stage gates.
• Translate regulations into product- and market-specific requirements and integrate them into roadmaps and design requirements.
• Own certification activities, including third-party laboratory and notified-body coordination, testing, issue resolution, certificates, and Declarations of Conformity.
• Govern regulatory data, technical documentation, supplier substance disclosures, certification evidence, and traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead regulatory audits, market-surveillance matters, risk mitigation, corrective actions, and compliance training across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in product compliance, certification, or regulatory work, including 3+ years leading teams.
• Strong knowledge of CE frameworks, including EMC, RED, LVD, and Machinery, as well as FCC/ISED, UL/CSA/IEC safety standards, RoHS, REACH, PFAS, Prop 65, EPR, and the EU Battery Regulation.
• Experience coordinating third-party laboratories, notified bodies, and certification agencies across regions.
• Ability to identify compliance issues, assess impact, and drive corrective actions with suppliers, manufacturing operations, and customers.
• Excellent English communication and technical writing skills are required.

Nice to have

• Marine or RV regulatory experience, including ABYC, ISO marine standards, USCG, or IEC 60945.
• Marine-specific certification experience, including DNV, MED, or commercial-marine type approval.
• Experience with wireless, software-driven, and networked products, cybersecurity regulations, lithium battery compliance, or dangerous-goods transport.
• Experience with supply-chain compliance, market-surveillance authorities, or additional European languages.
