Senior Environmental Health and Safety Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: East Providence, Rhode Island, USA, with responsibility for facilities in Norwich, Connecticut; 50–75% travel required

Nordson EFD designs and manufactures fluid dispensing systems and single-use fluid packaging for industrial applications.

What you will do

• Develop, coordinate, and administer environmental, health, safety, and security programs across two manufacturing facilities.
• Lead safety initiatives, behavioral safety programs, safety committees, audits, Gemba walks, risk assessments, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Manage incident and near-miss reporting, investigate injuries, and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee chemical handling, storage, SDS documentation, contractor management, and visitor safety and security programs.
• Plan emergency preparedness activities, including fire safety, spill response, evacuation drills, and coordination with local emergency responders.
• Coordinate EHS training, onboarding, compliance documentation, and alignment with Nordson, local, state, and federal requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of health, safety, and environmental compliance experience in industrial manufacturing or a chemical environment preferred.
• Experience with OSHA recordkeeping guidelines and administration.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage concurrent projects, work independently and collaboratively, and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English for the position and safety requirements.
