Lead Proposal Writer (Medicaid)

Location: Remote in Missouri, United States; occasional evening and weekend work may be required during peak RFP and re-procurement periods.

Salary: $87,700–$157,800 per year.

What you will do

• Manage and write responses to complex, high-scoring Medicaid RFP questions for new business and renewal procurements.
• Partner with subject-matter experts to turn policies, examples, and reports into compelling proposal narratives.
• Ensure assigned responses meet RFP requirements, drafting guides, win themes, and key differentiators.
• Develop topic papers before RFP release to clarify approaches, tactics, and programs for other writers.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert in assigned functional areas and provide backup support for reporting, competitive intelligence, and project management.
• Mentor departmental staff and support proposal development and reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Health Care, or a related field.
• More than five years of proposal writing experience, preferably in Medicaid managed care.
• Experience managing proposals; marketing, technical, or contract writing experience is preferred.
• Strong Medicaid proposal writing skills and the ability to work with internal subject-matter experts.
• Clinical healthcare experience and a clinical license, such as RN or LCSW, are preferred.
