TL;DR
Senior Manager, Public Affairs & Issues Management (Corporate Affairs): Leading the identification, assessment, and resolution of complex and high-profile issues across a multifamily real estate business with an accent on crisis response, reputational risk, and coordinated stakeholder communications. Focus on navigating ambiguous situations, developing executive-ready recommendations, preventing issue recurrence, and managing sensitive matters involving media, government officials, legal teams, and external partners.

Location: Daily commute to an office in Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Dallas, or Denver is required, or candidates must be open to relocation to one of these locations.

Salary: USD 150,000–175,000 yearly base salary plus annual bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead escalated, sensitive, and high-profile issues, including crisis situations, from initial intake through resolution.
  • Assess risks, align strategies, and coordinate responses with legal, government relations, communications, operations, AIR, and Blackstone stakeholders.
  • Develop communications materials, crisis frameworks, playbooks, scenario plans, and issue-prevention processes.
  • Identify emerging risks, vulnerabilities, and recurring patterns to strengthen reputational risk management.
  • Advise internal stakeholders, prepare concise executive-ready recommendations, and support high-pressure decision-making.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, supporting urgent issues during evenings, weekends, and other non-business hours as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, or a related field.
  • 8–10+ years of high-stakes reputation management experience with a strong public affairs focus.
  • Experience managing complex issues across legal, operational, and reputational dimensions.
  • Experience with media, government officials, regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, PR agencies, lobbyists, and law firms.
  • Strong writing, analytical, critical-thinking, collaboration, leadership, and stakeholder-influence skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AI-enabled productivity tools.

Nice to have

  • Experience in private equity, asset management, REITs, or another large institutional environment.
