TL;DR
Vice President, SEC Reporting (Financial Reporting/SEC Compliance): Overseeing the preparation and filing of quarterly and annual SEC reports, earnings materials, proxy statements, and related regulatory disclosures with an accent on U.S. GAAP, disclosure controls, audit coordination, and cross-functional governance. Focus on modernizing reporting through AI and automation, managing Workiva, strengthening SOX controls, and presenting complex accounting matters to senior leadership and the Board.

Location: Washington, DC, United States

Base salary: $170,000–$190,000 annually, plus potential annual discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of quarterly and annual SEC reports, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, proxy statements, financial statements, MD&A, footnotes, and XBRL tagging.
  • Coordinate earnings presentations and disclosure workflows with FP&A, Investor Relations, Legal, Consolidations, Fund Management, and Corporate Accounting.
  • Serve on the Disclosure Committee and prepare quarterly materials for the Audit Committee covering accounting judgments, new standards, and audit matters.
  • Manage the external auditor relationship, quarterly reviews, annual audits, PBC deliverables, and open audit items.
  • Maintain SEC reporting controls, oversee SOX compliance and sub-certifications, and strengthen the internal control environment over financial reporting.
  • Lead reporting process innovation, including AI and automation initiatives, Workiva product ownership, and regulatory filings with the Bureau of Economic Analysis and Census Bureau.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; accounting, finance, or a related concentration preferred.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 10+ years of progressive professional experience required, including significant Big 4 public accounting and/or SEC reporting experience at a public company.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC accounting pronouncements, consolidation, fair value estimates, acquisitions, stock-based compensation, and income taxes.
  • Experience managing and developing professional staff, communicating complex accounting matters to non-technical audiences, and working with senior leadership, boards, and external auditors.
  • Prior Workiva/Wdesk experience is strongly preferred; familiarity with private equity or financial services is also strongly preferred.
