Senior Communication Systems Engineer (Spacecraft) (Satellite Communications/RF): Designing, configuring, and operating space-to-ground communication links for LEO communications satellites with an accent on link budgets, modulation and coding, crypto solutions, and ground station integration. Focus on validating end-to-end communications, defining nominal and emergency operations, mitigating interference, and building robust fail-safe links.

Location: On-site in Westminster, Colorado, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

Salary: $133,000–$161,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Design, configure, and operate satellite space-to-ground communication links for command, telemetry, and fault recovery.
  • Model and maintain link budgets, modulation and coding schemes, and RF link performance.
  • Architect hardware-based crypto solutions and manage COMSEC pass-throughs and endpoints.
  • Define radio use across nominal, contingency, and emergency mission phases.
  • Support RF link testing and validate end-to-end communications with flight software and ground teams.
  • Optimize low-SWaP communications, mitigate interference, and improve link reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in satellite communications, RF systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience designing, verifying, and operating satellite communication links.
  • Strong knowledge of link budget analysis, modulation schemes, ground station interfaces, and space-qualified radios and antennas.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and testing ground station equipment and communication hardware.
  • Experience with communication system CONOPS, satellite link licensing, and ITU/FCC regulatory compliance.
