Expert Python Backend Developer (Financial Services): Building and maintaining high-performance RESTful APIs and backend systems for mission-critical financial services with an accent on Python, FastAPI, relational databases, and system scalability. Location: Porto, Portugal — hybrid. Candidates must have an existing legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do
- Develop and maintain high-performance RESTful APIs and backend logic with Python and FastAPI.
- Collaborate with frontend teams to integrate APIs, optimize data flows, and improve application responsiveness.
- Design, implement, and optimize relational database schemas while maintaining data integrity and efficiency.
- Apply version control, code reviews, Agile practices, and secure coding standards.
- Troubleshoot software issues and support system stability, security, CI/CD pipelines, and basic Docker-based containerization.
- Work with cross-functional teams to deliver financial services solutions aligned with client goals.
Requirements
- More than 9 years of professional software development experience with strong backend expertise.
- Hands-on experience with Python frameworks including FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Proven experience developing RESTful APIs and working with SQL and relational databases.
- Mid-level experience with Angular and TypeScript, plus knowledge of HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and responsive web design.
- Knowledge of Git, Scrum or Kanban, and basic CI/CD concepts; familiarity with Docker is preferred.
- Fluent Portuguese, English at minimum B2 level, and an existing legal right to work in the EU are required.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, banking, or financial services.
- Knowledge of software security guidelines.
- Additional DevOps or containerization certifications and skills.
- French language skills.
