COBOL Developer (Banking): Developing, testing, and maintaining COBOL systems for transaction processing, account management, and financial reporting with an accent on legacy banking platforms, production stability, and code quality. Focus on diagnosing complex existing systems, integrating DB2/VSAM, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and CICS, and resolving high-impact production issues.
Location: Lisbon or Porto, Portugal. Hybrid work is available under the local hybrid work policy.

What you will do
- Develop, test, and implement COBOL code for banking transaction processing, account management, and financial reporting systems.
- Analyze and diagnose existing systems and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with system analysts, software architects, and delivery teams to clarify requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and apply coding standards and development best practices.
- Work with technical support teams to resolve emergency issues and maintain production stability.
- Stay current with software development practices and technologies relevant to COBOL environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of COBOL software development experience.
- Experience with DB2 and VSAM.
- Experience with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and CICS.
- Knowledge of financial systems and the banking domain.
- Fluent English is required; the role is based in Portugal.
