Head of Platform Architecture (Cloud)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States; hybrid work with up to three days per week from home. Applicants for employment in the US must already have work authorization that does not require current or future visa sponsorship.

Base salary: $201,000–$342,000 annually for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers; other ranges apply to Washington, D.C., New York, and California. Employees may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain enterprise platform and infrastructure architecture strategies, roadmaps, standards, and governance.
• Lead the design and modernization of scalable, secure platforms across public cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
• Define platform operating models, ownership structures, decision rights, review forums, and lifecycle accountability across multiple teams.
• Guide architects, engineers, technology leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and external partners toward aligned architecture outcomes.
• Drive M&A technology due diligence, integration planning, and execution across infrastructure and technology landscapes.
• Improve platform performance, eliminate legacy redundancy, and support secure, resilient, cost-effective technology delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, plus 12+ years of relevant technology experience and 5+ years managing architecture, engineering, or technology teams.
• Experience leading platform architecture and infrastructure modernization in large, complex environments, including management of architecture teams.
• Deep knowledge of platform architecture, infrastructure design, enterprise architecture patterns, microservices, loosely coupled architectures, and infrastructure engineering.
• Experience with APIM, messaging middleware, DevSecOps, observability, developer portals or experience platforms, and enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, or Appian.
• Proficiency with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as networks, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud services, and data center operations.
• Extensive M&A IT due diligence and integration experience, with strong leadership, communication, analytical, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• TOGAF 9 Enterprise Architecture Practitioner certification.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices, developer tools, infrastructure, and data center operations.
• Knowledge of security and compliance standards for technology platforms and infrastructure.
