Energy & Sustainability Engineer (Industrial Refrigeration)

Location: Lyndhurst, VA 22952, USA; on-site, full-time role

What you will do

• Develop and implement energy models to assess and improve industrial refrigeration system efficiency.
• Analyze new and existing systems, usage data, and performance reports to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Identify system deficiencies and recommend practical, cost-effective energy conservation measures.
• Advise customers on energy best practices and provide energy-efficiency instruction and training.
• Conduct occasional site assessments, facility walkthroughs, equipment inspections, and customer energy audits.
• Collaborate with engineering, service, and project teams on energy-efficient system designs, utility rebates, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
• At least 2 years of professional experience, with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret performance data.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and technical software tools.
• Ability to walk through industrial sites, enter loud mechanical rooms, and work in cold storage areas with appropriate PPE.
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds; occasional travel may be required.

Nice to have

• Interest in energy efficiency, sustainability, or industrial system optimization.
• Familiarity with industrial refrigeration or HVAC systems.
• Experience with ENERGY STAR tools, utility benchmarking, energy reporting, energy codes, or sustainability reporting.
• Professional Engineer, Certified Energy Manager, or similar certification.
