Application Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States; onsite Monday through Thursday, with a flexible work location on Fridays

Annual base salary: $65,200–$118,860; incentive eligible

What you will do

• Optimize and validate HVAC equipment selections, including size, configuration, voltage, and options, based on plans, specifications, estimates, and proposals.
• Review project scope, quantities, configurations, transition documents, and equipment cost breaks to identify savings opportunities and cost risks.
• Support sales by preparing preliminary and final submittals, coordinating job-cost consensus meetings, and releasing or revising submittals.
• Negotiate material pricing with vendors and maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive conditions.
• Prepare equipment for order entry, verify pricing, update coordination worksheets, and reconcile job costs.
• Provide technical support for equipment installation, startup, warranty service, new equipment, and controls equipment.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related field, plus at least two years of HVAC project management or estimating experience.
• Alternatively, at least five years of HVAC industry experience in project management or estimating, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems or temperature controls is preferred.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
• Valid driver's license held for at least 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations or preventable collisions within the previous three years.
