Application Engineer (HVAC)

Location: West Columbia, South Carolina, United States; onsite Monday through Thursday, with a flexible work location on Fridays

Annual base salary: $60,000–$109,340; incentive eligible

What you will do

• Optimize and validate HVAC equipment selections, including sizing, configuration, voltage, and options, by reviewing plans, specifications, estimates, and proposals.
• Evaluate project cost savings, cost risks, quantities, configurations, and equipment dollar breaks.
• Support sales by preparing preliminary and final submittals, coordinating job cost consensus meetings, and releasing submittals.
• Prepare equipment for order entry, verify pricing, revise coordination worksheets, and reconcile job costs.
• Negotiate material prices with vendors and monitor industry trends to maintain competitiveness.
• Provide technical support for equipment installation, startup, warranty service, new equipment, and controls.

Requirements

• Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related field, plus at least two years of HVAC project management or estimating experience.
• Alternatively, at least five years of HVAC project management or estimating experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems and temperature controls is preferred.
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.
• Valid driver's license held for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations or preventable collisions in the previous three years.
