Home Energy Auditor (Field-Based)

Location: Field-based and remote work in Southern Maryland, including White Plains, Hughesville, Prince Frederick, Leonardtown, and Waldorf

Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually. The full-time pay range is $46,004–$78,207.

What you will do

• Conduct residential home energy assessments, including inspections of attics, basements, crawl spaces, and existing equipment.
• Perform air leakage testing and investigate the main drivers of household energy consumption.
• Install instant savings measures such as LED bulbs, showerheads, and other energy-saving devices.
• Troubleshoot comfort issues and prepare customer reports with recommended energy-efficiency improvements.
• Collect accurate data, enter information into utility modeling software, and coordinate with quality assurance activities.
• Explain energy-efficiency recommendations to homeowners and tenants and provide or refer them to technical, administrative, and financial assistance.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least 2 years of professional work experience, preferably in energy, HVAC, or construction.
• Basic mechanical skills and the ability to install household items such as light bulbs and showerheads; thermostat installation may be performed after training.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, drive, walk, stand, and perform overhead arm movements.
• Must pass a motor vehicle record check and background check.

Nice to have

• Residential energy-efficiency promotion experience and knowledge of energy-efficient technologies.
• BPI Building Analyst or Energy Auditor certification.
• Experience with energy modeling software and building science applications.
• Construction or Maryland home-improvement industry experience.
• Customer service or sales conversion experience.
