Copy Editor (Clinical and CME)

Location: United States; hybrid work schedule with a remote designation

Salary: $55,000–$60,000 per year, depending on qualifications; eligible for an annual bonus program or commission incentive.

What you will do

• Copyedit clinical, peer-reviewed, CME, and CE content across Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, print, video transcripts, e-books, web pages, and promotional materials.
• Integrate Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini into editing, proofreading, fact-checking, and consistency workflows.
• Proofread page proofs, final artwork, electronic files, and layouts for grammar, spelling, accuracy, and style.
• Improve unclear language and headlines while following CME, CE, medical and legal review requirements.
• Apply proofing and design changes using Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe InCopy.
• Coordinate with editorial, events, marketing, and promotional departments while managing multiple production deadlines.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of editing and fact-checking experience, preferably in medical or scientific publishing.
• Active experience using AI tools in an editing workflow, including developing prompts, reusable queries, and validation methods.
• Strong command of the AMA Manual of Style 11th Edition and AP Stylebook.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including track changes.
• Familiarity with Adobe InCopy, Adobe Acrobat Pro, content management systems, web publishing, typography, layout, printing, and prepress.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university required; an advanced scientific degree, BELS certification, or CSE certification is preferred.
