Location: Cambridge, United States; hybrid work is permitted only from a Harvard registered state. The work schedule and location are determined by the department according to operational needs.

Central Administration supports the university's schools, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and surrounding communities through collaborative and efficient services.
What you will do
- Provide administrative and editorial support to senior editors in the Acquisitions Department.
- Coordinate peer review and prepare manuscript consideration packets, fact sheets, design briefs, and author questionnaires.
- Manage manuscripts, artwork, book files, metadata, databases, and seasonal lists using publishing systems.
- Coordinate authors, translators, mapmakers, illustrators, editors, and Press staff to meet deadlines and resolve technical issues.
- Prepare manuscripts for copyediting, proofread editorial and jacket materials, and draft correspondence.
- Support editorial meetings, republication projects, special initiatives, travel arrangements, and departmental administration.
Requirements
- At least three years of related experience; education beyond high school may count toward experience.
- Excellent writing, verbal communication, computer, organizational, and detail-management skills.
- Proficiency with common business software, including Word, Excel, Planner, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, work independently, and communicate diplomatically.
- Ability to work in Cambridge or from a Harvard registered state for hybrid work.
- Must meet applicable work location sponsorship requirements; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
Nice to have
- College degree.
- Editorial acquisitions experience or knowledge of the book publishing industry.
- Familiarity with academic journals, relevant language expertise, or academic research experience.
