TL;DR
Air Quality Engineer / Scientist (Air Permitting and Emissions Compliance): Conducting air emission calculations, regulatory compliance reporting, and permit applications for industrial clients in the Southeast with an accent on federal and state air quality regulations, NSR, Title V, NSPS, and MACT compliance. Focus on interpreting emerging regulatory programs, managing concurrent client tasks, and developing technical project responsibilities as experience grows.

Location: Greenville, South Carolina, with possible reporting to offices in Raleigh or Cary, North Carolina. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Salary: USD $67,516.80–$85,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Perform emission calculations and prepare semi-annual and annual compliance reports.
  • Develop new source review, federal operating permit, and Title V permit applications.
  • Evaluate state and federal permit compliance, including NSPS and MACT requirements.
  • Support projects for industrial clients across a wide range of industries in the Southeast.
  • Manage technical tasks and selected projects as experience grows.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of air quality experience.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Meteorology.
  • Understanding of federal and state air quality regulations, policies, and emerging regulatory programs.
  • Strong communication, writing, data management, data interpretation, spreadsheet, and word-processing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks concurrently.

Nice to have

  • Experience with new source permitting, PSD, non-attainment programs, emissions inventories, Title V permitting, control technology reviews, and compliance evaluations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access.
  • Experience in chemicals and manufacturing air permitting.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license in South Carolina, North Carolina, or another southeastern state.
  • Experience working with state and federal agency personnel.
