Virtual Construction - Reality Capture Senior Associate

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; based at HITT Headquarters with 50%–75% travel to local and national construction job sites.

Salary: $82,000–$117,000 per year.

What you will do

• Execute terrestrial laser scanning and SLAM deployments at active construction sites.
• Develop scan-planning strategies and documentation protocols for existing conditions, construction progress, and quality assurance.
• Process raw scan data into registration-accurate point clouds and polygonal meshes using ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Register 360, 3DR, and related platforms.
• Generate technical reports, visualizations, BIM-integrated deliverables, floor heat maps, and progress documentation.
• Coordinate with Virtual Design and Construction teams on clash detection, model verification, and multidisciplinary project workflows.
• Review scan coverage and geometric accuracy, while contributing to knowledge-sharing and post-project improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in construction, land surveying, geospatial technology, or reality capture operations; internship experience is considered.
• Knowledge of laser scanning, LiDAR, and photogrammetry principles and applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and fundamental data-management practices.
• Ability to work safely in active construction environments and independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and technical documentation skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Geomatics, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Digital Twin concepts, NVIDIA Omniverse, or similar real-time 3D collaboration platforms.
• Hands-on experience with ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, or comparable point-cloud processing software.
• Knowledge of coordinate reference systems, geodetic datums, surveying principles, or 3D Gaussian Splatting.
